Roman Causeway, Roads, Fortlets and Patrol Tracks.
Gourock Golf Course has a special place in the history of rock art for it's amazing mathematical feature.
The Antonine Wall was built by Emperor Antoninus Pius following the successful re-conquest of southern Scotland in 142
AD. From then till about 165 AD, the Antonine Wall was the north-west frontier of the Roman Empire, but few people realise
that between Bishopton, Greenock and Largs there are the remains of a Roman causeway, roads, fortlets and a possible
Roman patrol track which marks the very edge of the empire.
